FAQ
  • Here are the most common questions pertaining primarily to the Dr. Rolf Method of Structural Integration.
  • Does Structural Integration hurt?                                    No, but it is not a massage, where the tissue has been shorted, stuck and dehydrated it may be uncomfortable. Its important to know that it is your session, you are in control if it is painful let me know and I can lighten up. The other work I do Zero Balancing it is designed to feel good.

Do I have to commit to10 sessions?                               No, the first Rolf session was created to give you a feel for the work, it will provide you with a sense of lift and a indication of how powerful this  work is. If its not for you, you will still benefit from this hour. However, knowing the effects of gravity and the stress our bodies have endured, 10 sessions is worth considering.   The Zero Balancing system is built around 3 sessions and then we follow whatever schedule works best for maintaining your well-being.

Do I have to come weekly?                                            It is usually the easiest schedule to keep, but the sessions will work every other week and towards the end we can meet monthly.

Do the benefits last?                                                  Yes, photographs  taken 5 years later prove the benefits remains. I do make some recommendations to support the effects. These include drinking lots of water especially after session. If possible try to schedule your session on a easy day or in the late afternoon. Stay away from any exercises that compress the spine i.e. squats. I recommend yoga and pilates as an extension to my work. And I  offer a book of Structural Awareness exercises created to provide further balance and flexibility afterwards.

“You sit here for days saying, this is strange business.  You’re the strange business.          You have the energy of the sun in you.         But you keep knotting it up at the base of your spine.”                               Rumi
